Mark came round recently after a plea from me about a failing hearing aid. I was impressed that he came so soon and dealt with the problem so quickly and efficiently, but then that was to be expected after several years of service since I bought the aids.
I was expecting a substantial bill for spare parts and being called out to attend, but it was only the cost of the replacement parts that was asked for.
It must be unusual to have free visits to check every year, with the only costs being clearing up hard wax.
I am very impressed by the hearing aids and the friendly service.

Sets a high standard for ear care.
Mark has been looking after my hearing for the last 6 years and is the best audiologist I’ve ever had, either in the NHS or other private companies.
He always comes when I need him, retests my hearing and resets my hearing aids every year - all of it without any extra charge.
Not only does he have bucketloads of patience, he is a lovely man with a great sense of humour. I look forward to his visits.
I’d highly recommend Hear Here Scotland to anyone looking for a high level of knowledge and service. Mark and Gill treat you like you are family.

The difference was incredible.
I made an appointment with Hear Here after a recommendation from a good friend who’s hearing has been great since she got her aids. I knew I’d been needing to do something for a while now and my wife and kids have been nagging me about it.
I contacted via the website and Gillian could not have been more helpful. I was fortunate enough to be able to get a test only a few days later, while I was on holiday from work, and it was incredible. Mark was thorough and very detailed. There isn’t much he doesn’t know about hearing and made me feel a lot less concerned and conscious about wearing them. He let me try two different types suitable for my budget.
The difference was incredible.
My wife was asking me questions from two rooms away and I heard every word. It took a week to order and fit and now I hear like a teenager. I feel like I have a new superpower and particularly enjoy hearing the birds sing in the garden. I honestly wish I’d done this years ago!
Thank you Mark, you’ve given me the gift of being able to join in with conversation again, and I can hear my kids clearly when they call, so no more making excuses or letting my wife do the talking for me ;)
I’m looking forward to my rehab appointment already and a bit more music chat too :)

The aid has really enhanced my day to day life
​
I had a hearing test carried out in my home by Hear here, and I was fitted with an aid the same day. I was a little nervous going into this, but Mark put me at ease and I felt very comfortable with him, as he is amiable and easy to talk with.
Mark is evidently incredibly knowledgeable in his field but is able to explain everything in a way which is easy to understand and follow. As a result the whole process was also very interesting. I really felt that he wanted the best outcome for me and the process was tailored to what would be best for my needs/requirements.
The aid itself is discrete and comfortable, and is barely noticeable to others. I particularly like that it is synced with an app on my phone. It is easy to fit and maintain, and by the time Mark left I felt very happy and competent with it.
It has been almost a month since my fitting and my only regret is not doing this sooner. The aid has really enhanced my day to day life and I also feel a lot more confident now interacting with others. It is no exaggeration to say this has improved my quality of life and makes a big difference to me.
All in all, the the whole process was smooth and very professional. I would highly recommend hear here, as you will be in highly skilled hands with them.

A great team!
I am autistic so it is really nice to have people who are willing to take those extra little steps to put me at my ease. In my case, I got a text message a few minute's ahead of Mark's arrival which meant I knew to expect him at my door (I am nervous if I don't know who's calling). Mark is thoroughly professional and very patient in answering any questions. My ears get a bit cloggy with wax once or twice a year and as I am a bit phobic about liquids in my ears, microsuction is the ideal answer. It is also a lot quicker and very effective!
Mark really knows his stuff and will examine the ears and explain exactly what he sees - and then what he SHOULD be seeing in a healthy ear - and makes sure he does after the procedure. It is very reassuring to have such an attentive and knowledgable audiologist.
I am especially impressed by the extra care he takes to make sure he adheres to covid protocols to keep himself and his patients safe. If you are a bit nervous with strangers, a bit anxious about going out, but need your ears checked and cleared, look no further than Mark and Hear-Here for a positive home visit experience.

A big difference!
I asked Mark come in to test the hearing of an elderly family member who had been struggling for some time.
As an elderly man who lives alone, he was initially reluctant, but Mark was patient and visited several times to help with the process. It made a big difference being able to trial the hearing aids for longer and work out the usefulness of them to him.
When someone stays alone, it is more difficult to judge how something like this is working, and his carers and those who visit him were all crucial in doing so. They have all noticed a difference in his which makes many things easier to communicate to him.
The most important time for him is watching the TV. He says it makes a big difference. It also makes a big difference to me that he wears them then … he can hear the phone ring!

I haven't heard this well in years
​
I have had hearing problems since I was in my mid-50s. I've had an appointment once every 3 to 5 years with the NHS, with not a lot else in between - which is fairly standard as I understand it. My aids were OK - not great in company, and I find myself sitting out group conversations.

Then I saw Hear Here's ad. in my local magazine, and decided to try another option. Mark took time to find out lots about my needs and lifestyle and the budget I'd like to spend. He then gave me options - from different providers, and took time to go through the Pros and Cons of each. The experience was incredible. Totally different from my NHS experience.
​
To help me decide, Mark offered a week's trial of as many aids as I wanted to 'road test' allowing me to make a truly informed decision. I decided to 'stick' after only one trial, as the difference it has made to me is just night and day. I can even call Mark any time I feel I need a tweak, or help with any aspect.

I'm absolutely delighted as I haven't heard this well in years.

No more blocked ears. I wish I had done this weeks ago.
Mark came to see me after I had started having a feeling of blocked ears.

I had tried over the counter solutions, and was starting to feel Otex in particular was hurting my ears, even though it was recommended by my chemist. I wish I had done micro-suction weeks ago. Mark was patient, explained what he could see when he looked in my ears – which was basically a build-up of excessive wax, which he suspected was causing my blocked ear feeling.

It took him around 10-15 minutes to micro-suck it all out and I could hear properly again! What a difference it made. Mark even left me the bottle of oil to help keep my ears from ‘clogging up’ again.

What a great service, and at £80 for him to come to you at home, it was a faultless, pain free process I’ll definitely use again.

I went to a national high street store for hearing aids and they wanted to charge me a small fortune.

Wax Removal

I had this procedure today in the comfort of my own home. I was nervous as this was the first time, but it was completely pain free and Mark was very good at explaining everything both before and during the procedure. Fantastic service from Mark.
My reluctant partner had not been hearing much for years and Mark was very patient explaining the benefits of hearing aids.
We trialled one set and had a few issues with keeping them on so Mark came up with an alternative solution.

I've been suffering blocked and painful ears for weeks. I admit to being a cotton bud enthusiast in the past, thinking I could solve the wax issues myself. No more.
Mark had an awful job removing what looked like mountains of compacted wax from deep in my ears. I can't believe the difference.

After a bad experience having my ears syringed at my doctor’s surgery a few years ago, I was nervous about needing to have the wax removed again. But I needn’t have worried. Mark used micro suction to remove the wax build up and was extremely professional.
He took the time to examine my ears and explain exactly what he was going to do. I am extremely pleased with the result and would have no hesitation in recommending Mark.

A small business that deserves to succeed!
This is the second time I have had Mark to my home to remove wax from my ears in the last year or two.
I didn't buy my hearing aids from him (sadly) but he noticed my tubes were discoloured and brittle, and he offered to change them for me , free of charge, 'while he was there'.
He was aware that my mobility isn't good, and was so kind and considerate and saved me trip into town. I have never experienced service like this in my life and highly recommend 'Hear Here' to all.
